Careers and Employment Opportunities with NASA

There are numerous opportunities for employment with NASA.  

Each year, NASA hires between 550 and 1,100 new employees.  On a typical day, there are more than 40 new hire (i.e., open to the public) NASA position openings advertised in the USAJOBS website. These opportunities exist at HQ NASA (Washington D.C.) and at NASA’s centers and major facilities across the United States. NASA hires between 500 and 1,100 new employees every year. NASA has a diverse, highly skilled workforce of nearly 18,000 civil servants along with thousands people from private industry and academia.

What Types of Positions Does NASA Employ? 

NASA employs “scientists, engineers, IT specialists, human resources specialists, accountants, writers, technicians, skilled trades professionals,” and a long list of other job specialties.  NASA routinely hires new employee from a number of sources to include: the “military, corporate world, manufacturing, academia and research, and non-profit organizations.”
